At Legacy, we are committed to making life better for others by providing state-of-the-art care with compassion.  If this is how you view your work as an OB/GYN, we invite you to consider joining our community.

This OB/GYN Hospitalist position is part of Legacy Medical Group and is shared between Legacy Mount Hood (LMH) Medical Center in Gresham, OR and Randall Children’s (RCH) /Legacy Emanuel Hospital (LEH) in Portland, OR.   At LMH you will be part of Legacy Medical Group (LMG).

This shared position offers the unique opportunity to work as an OB/GYN Hospitalist in a collaborative community setting at Legacy Mount Hood AND on a high-risk teaching service at a referral hospital in close collaboration with Maternal Fetal Medicine at Randall Children’s Hospital.

The LMH OB/GYN Hospitalist covers the Family Birth Center including high-risk and unassigned patients.  The hospitalist works closely with a 24/7 in-house CNM, who manages their own low-risk OB patients and first assists on C-sections.  LMH outpatient clinic physicians provide OB/GYN back-up for emergencies and complex surgeries.  The group works closely with Legacy Medical Group Maternal Fetal Medicine physicians, who have a clinic presence during the week and collaborate on pregnant people requiring transfer to Randall Children’s for a higher level of care.

At RCH/LEMC the OB/GYN hospitalist supports the inpatient needs of the Legacy Medical Group (LMG) Maternal Fetal Medicine service and supervises Family Medicine and Obstetric/Gynecology residents (switch the order of these) from Oregon Health & Science University (corrected title). Other responsibilities include backup to the employed Certified Nurse Midwifery (change to CNM to be consistent with prior paragraph) practice, coverage for unassigned labor/triage patients, and support of our private practice OB/GYN colleagues as needed (i.e. C-section assisting).

The OB/GYN Hospitalist is responsible for Emergency Department and inpatient gynecologic consults and emergencies (miscarriage, ovarian torsion, ectopic pregnancy) at both hospitals.  Both hospitals provide 24/7 in house Anesthesia coverage.

Shifts are either 12 or 24 hours, starting at 7 am.  These shifts are in-house where there is a well-appointed call room. Weekend shifts are split evenly among the group of employees, as are holidays which are on a rotating schedule.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Graduate of four-year U.S. Medical School or equivalent with residency completed in OB/GYN
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in OB-GYN.
  • Unrestricted license to practice medicine in Oregon
  • Current BLS from the American Heart Association required.
