    Randall Children’s Hospital is actively recruiting a full time, BE/BC pediatric gastroenterologist to join an established team of 4 pediatric gastroenterologists.  Candidates with strong interests in patient care, quality improvement, clinical research, and teaching are encouraged to apply.  Our program offers a full range of inpatient and outpatient services.

     

    Randall Children's Hospital (RCH) is a regional leader providing exceptional care for children throughout Portland and the Pacific Northwest. We are a 165-bed ACS verified level 1 trauma center for children that includes a 22-bed Children’s Emergency Department, 24-bed PICU, 45-bed NICU, 25-bed Children’s Day Surgery Unit, 14-bed Children’s Day Treatment Unit for outpatient infusion. The RCH medical staff is comprised of more than 600 physicians, including pediatric medical and surgical specialists, sub-specialists, hospitalists, and community physicians.

    Responsibilities

    GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    Clinical:

    • Provides consultation services for children with gastrointestinal diseases who are hospitalized at a Legacy hospital or are referred by their primary physician for outpatient consultation.
    • Responds promptly in writing to referral source with clinical findings and suggested plan of care.
    • Provides telephone consultative services for children with gastrointestinal diseases throughout Oregon and the region.
    • Provides continuous coverage for the Pediatric Gastroenterology Services together with the other pediatric gastroenterologists on the Legacy Emanuel Medical Staff.
    • Development of consultative gastroenterology clinic for children with chronic gastrointestinal diseases as requested.
    • Participates in outreach clinical care as planned and requested by Medical Director and clinical leaders

    • Assists Medical Director and other staff to develop policies and procedures for gastrointestinal care throughout Randall Children’s Hospital.
    • Participates in quality assurance and continuous improvement in the care of children at Randall Children’s Hospital.
    • Advises Legacy’s Supply and Equipment Council on new technology that pertain to specialized gastroenterology care.
    • Advises Legacy’s Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee on gastrointestinal medications including formulary recommendations, restrictions, utilization, and monitoring of adverse reactions.
    • Participates regularly in the teaching activities of the Pediatric Department, including resident and student education and outreach continuing medical education.
    • Participate in marketing/outreach and philanthropy efforts as requested.
    • Serves on department, hospital and Legacy Health committees as requested.

    Qualifications

    Education:

    Graduate of four-year accredited U.S. Medical School or equivalent

    Completion of Pediatric Residency

    Completion of Pediatric Gastroenterology Fellowship

    Licensure/Certification:

    Board certified in Pediatrics or Pediatric Gastroenterology

    Board eligible/certified in Pediatric Gastroenterology

    Board Certification as required by Medical Staff bylaws

    Unrestricted license to practice medicine in the applicable state

    Active member in good standing of Hospital Medical Staff

    Basic Life Support certification with Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification to be obtained within 6 months of hire

    DEA Licensure in applicable state
