Assigned principal responsibility for primary health care of patients. Seeks the expert opinion or advice of a physician whenever the incumbent decides a case falls outside the scope authorized by policies and protocol. This position has access to the on-call hospitalists and subspeciality clinicians at Legacy Emanual Medical Center.   Experience with medical management of patients in roles such as a primary care, internal medicine, hospitalist, emergency department, or intensive care preferred, but not required. In addition, an experienced family nurse practitioner is highly preferred to be able to evaluate adolescent patients in addition to adult patients, but is also not required. The Nurse Practitioner typically remains responsible for the patient throughout the course of treatment, provides the physical examination, the diagnosis, and the health care plan, determines when the patient has recovered, and releases the patient. The Nurse Practitioner may refer the patient to a physician for consultation or to specialized health resources for treatment, but retains responsibility for clinical management as well as any subsequent modification. Responsibilities: - Assesses the physical condition of a group of patients by performing physical examinations including ordering, interpreting and evaluating diagnostic tests and obtaining medical histories. Assumes ongoing responsibility for each patient from discovery of the disorder to recovery. - Formulates the medical plan and prognosis based on patient's condition. - Consults with physician(s) regarding patient health care plans and treatment. - Orders, interprets, and evaluates diagnostic tests to identify and assess the patient's clinical problems and health care needs. - Performs selected invasive procedures for therapeutic and/or diagnostic reasons within scope of validated competence. - Initiates and/or recommends medical drug therapies or other forms of related therapeutic treatment and procedures in accordance with approved protocols/policy. - Complies with medical records policies regarding the complete and accurate documentation of patient care. Initiates and maintains required records and legal documents. - Participates in quality improvement activities. - Counsels patients, families and significant others about health and illness, and promotes health maintenance. - Establishes and documents the health care plan and prognosis, maintaining records of each case and evaluates the effectiveness of the plan. - Initiates drug therapy, taking full responsibility for such therapy. Consults with a physician prior to implementing the therapy, as necessary. - Determines when the patient has recovered from the disorder and releases the patient.       Randall Children’s Hospital at Legacy Emanuel is seeking to expand our team and welcome BE/BC Pediatric Critical Care physicians to apply for employment to begin January 2023.  Our current practice consists of 7 board-certified pediatric intensivists and a PA-C.  We are a current recipient of the Gold Beacon Award by the AACN for excellence in multi-disciplinary, collaborative, family-centered pediatric critical care.    Randall Children’s Hospital is a state-of-the-art, 9-story freestanding Children’s Hospital affiliated with Legacy Emanuel Hospital.  Our facility offers a large, separate Children's Emergency Department open 24/7, a LEVEL IV NICU, the region’s only inpatient rehabilitation facility as well as a 24-bed Pediatric Intensive Care Unit with large private rooms that promote our ideal of family-centered care.  The hospital has over 100 pediatric sub-specialty professionals in both medical and surgical areas and has been verified as both a Level I Pediatric Trauma and Level I Pediatric Surgical center.   Legacy Health System consists of seven hospitals, dozens of primary care and specialty clinics, a regional medical laboratory service, a research facility and The Oregon Burn Center.   Responsibilities: - The Pediatric Intensivist provides hospital-based critical care to inpatients in the Pediatric ICU, as the attending physician-of-record. - Pediatric code response, ECLS management, management of advanced modes of ventilation including VDR, directing pediatric transport, and supervising care provided by advanced practitioners. - Clinical duties, call coverage and administrative work. - Provision of collaborative management with numerous pediatric surgical and sub-specialty services.   - Our PICU participates in national quality databases, multiple quality projects and multi-institute research studies, and Randall Children’s Hospital Foundation funding is available to support quality and patient-centered projects.   Experience: Clinical experience in Pediatric Critical Care, including management of ECLS.   Education: - Graduate of four-year accredited U.S. Medical school or equivalent.  - Completion of an accredited pediatric residency and subsequent fellowship in Pediatric Critical Care Medicine.  Licensure/Certification:  - Board Eligible OR Board Certified in pediatric critical care by the American Board of Pediatrics.  - Maintains subspecialty certification (or obtains subspecialty certification within two testing cycles of hire by Group) in Pediatric Critical Care Medicine by the American Board of Pediatrics. If this is how you view your work as an OB/GYN, we invite you to consider joining our community.   This OB/GYN Hospitalist position will be primarily located at the joint site Legacy Emanuel Medical Center (LEMC) and Randall Children’s Hospital (RCH) in Portland, Oregon. Additional opportunities for coverage at other sites within the Legacy system (either coverage or additional FTE) may be available if interested. For emergency coverage, the group of Hospitalists are credentialed at multiple sites.   The well-established OB/GYN Hospitalist program at RCH/LEMC supports the inpatient needs of the Legacy Medical Group (LMG) Maternal Fetal Medicine service. The OB Hospitalists and the MFM providers work closely together on a daily basis, and the MFM practice has 24/7 (not in-house) coverage available. The OB Hospitalist also provides backup to the LMG Midwifery Practice (all CNMs), coverage for unassigned labor/triage patients, support of our private practice OB/GYN colleagues as needed (i.e. C-section assisting), and coverage for Emergency Department and inpatient gynecologic consults and emergencies (miscarriage, ovarian torsion, ectopic pregnancy, etc) with backup available. RCH has a Level IV NICU and serves a vital role in the surrounding communities for high-risk pregnancies. Dedicated in-house Anesthesia is present 24/7. Local academic OB/GYN and Family Medicine residents provide coverage 24/7 at LEMC with medical student rotations most of the year. No outpatient clinic responsibilities.   Shifts are either 12 or 24 hours in-house, in a well-appointed call room on the beautiful Labor & Delivery unit in Randall Children’s Hospital. Some preference can be taken with respect to 12 vs 24 hour shifts, but flexibility is required. Weekend shifts are split evenly among the group of FTE’d employees, as are holidays which are on a rotating schedule. You would be joining Portland’s oldest OB/GYN Hospitalist program with very low attrition over its 15+ year history.   Posted FTE may be flexible (0.6-1.0) depending on your desires!   Requirements and Qualifications: - Graduate of four-year U.S. Medical School or equivalent with residency completed in OB/GYN - Board Certified or Board Eligible in OB-GYN. - Unrestricted license to practice medicine in Oregon and Washington. - Current BLS from the American Heart Association required. - Bilingual a plus! The OB Hospitalists and the MFM providers work closely together on a daily basis, and the MFM practice has 24/7 (not in-house) coverage available. The OB Hospitalist also provides backup to the LMG Midwifery Practice (all CNMs), coverage for unassigned labor/triage patients, support of our private practice OB/GYN colleagues as needed (i.e. C-section assisting), and provide variable coverage for Emergency Department gynecologic consults and emergencies (miscarriage, ovarian torsion, ectopic pregnancy, etc). Both locations have Level IV NICUs and serve a vital role in the surrounding communities for high-risk pregnancies. Dedicated in-house Anesthesia is present 24/7 at both sites. Local academic OB/GYN and Family Medicine residents provide coverage 24/7 at LEMC with medical student rotations at both sites.       Legacy Maternal Fetal medicine is seeking a BE/BC MFM to join our well-established practice in the heart of Portland, Oregon. Our team currently includes 8 MFM physicians and 1 CNM-ANP, as well as 3 certified genetic counselors, 20 sonographers and 2 dedicated MFM social workers.  We have a collegial group practice model and strive to streamline our patient care through evidence-based practice guidelines. Performs psychodiagnostic and/or neuropsychological assessment and testing inthe inpatient setting as needed to diagnose and plan treatment, and to evaluate the effectiveness of treatment.  Provides consultative support to staff and families.   Education: Ph.D. or Psy.D. in clinical or counseling psychology with specialized post-doctoral training in neuropsychology preferred.   Experience: At least one year of post-doctoral experience in inpatient hospital-based neuropsychological or rehab psychology servcies preferred. Preference given to persons who have completed a formal hospital-based two-year doctoral training program.   Skills: Demonstrated competencies in assessment and treatment of emotional, neurocognitive and behavioral disorders in adult and/or geriatric patients (depending upon population served by specific position).  Demonstrated competency in assessment and treatment of cognitive and psychological problems secondary to, associated with, and/or exacerbating medical conditions.  Demonstrated competency in consultation to staff of all levels in a medical setting.   Current licensure as a psychologist by the applicable State Board of Psychologist Examiners.  Must be eligible for membership in the hospital medical staff.   LEGACY’S VALUES IN ACTION:   Follows guidelines set forth in Legacy’s Values in Action.   Equal Opportunity Employer/Vets/Disabled.    For additional information please formally apply or contact Erin Pendergraft at EPENDERG@LHS.ORG
